The Ihsan King English Willow Cricket Bat is one of the highest specified bats in Ihsan's Classic Series, hand-crafted in Sialkot from top quality reserved English willow off seasoned, air-dried clefts. It is the traditional shape done properly: a mid profile with large edges and a massive sweet spot.
Where the Emperor goes for a full profile and high spine, the King is built to play all round the wicket. Concave shaping keeps the pick-up honest behind all that wood, and a five-piece handle takes the sting out of impact. Every bat here is individually photographed, so you choose the exact one.

Reserved is Ihsan's term for the clefts they hold back for their best Classic Series bats: seasoned and air-dried rather than rushed, then hand-crafted and pressed to bring out rebound without killing the feel. It is the grade Ihsan build for highest-level players.
Profile, edges and sweet spot
The King is a mid profile bat, so the middle sits where most batters actually hit the ball rather than being pushed high or dropped low for one style of play. Large edges sit either side of it for rebound when you are not perfectly in line, and the concave back takes wood from behind the blade so the bat still feels alive in the hands.
Handle and control
The special five-piece handle absorbs shock through impact and transfers power cleanly, and Ihsan offer it in semi-oval or round shapes so you can match your grip preference. Want a thicker handle or a chevron grip? Add an extra grip above and we will fit it before dispatch.

The King arrives pro-knocked and ready to play with a cover included, well ahead of a raw cleft. We still recommend further knocking around the edges and toe before facing a hard ball. Our Bat Preparation service covers linseed oil, 24 hours drying, 12,000 machine knocks, a scuff sheet and edge tape, and a fitted toe guard can be added too.
